As soon as we get your films in our studio, we take
the following
steps:
Step 1.
Cleaning the Films:
Whether you want to put your film to VHS, DVCAM or DVD all films are cleaned and
lubricated. This is important because your film is saved from scratches that
come in effect as your film passes through the converter. The hair and dust that
come by during transfer process are cleaned using pressurized air blow. Your
films are examined for any splicing need. We need a smooth transfer of films
when passing through the converter. Each roll is passed separately through the
machine.
Step 2.
Processing:
The films are processed using Elmo 3CCD converter. Each frame of
the film is converted to a video signal and recorded over the desired medium of
your choice. We use video signal measuring equipments to measure the brightness
and color information in your film and correct accordingly. The process is
handled by a trained technician.
Step3.
Mastering:
Once the signal is processed, it can be mastered on
a. Analogue tape - VHS, Betamax, 8mm, Betacam, Umatic,
b. Digital tape - MiniDV, DVCAM, DVCPro, Digibeta,
c. DVD, VCD or CD (AVI, Mpeg, QT)
Mastering on tapes( analogue or digital) is a real-time process.
To make a DVD, you need to make the digital tape master first. And I suggest
digital tape master because they can hold more information than VHS. DVD
mastering involves more steps than a regular tape mastering process. But you get
more quality this way.
In this step we make sure that the video signal
that is being generated is clean: we use industrial grade audio/visual cables
and recording decks of high S/N ratio.
